THE SHOULDER COURSE

Shoulder course with live patient demonstrations

Shoulder course - Day 1

In day 1 of the shoulder course, we discuss when scapuladysfunctions and movement patterns are relevant for shoulder pain and when you should focus less on the details and have a broader psychosocial perspective. Exercise for relevant scapuladysfunctions will be demonstrated as well as manual techniques and appropriate home exercises. We will also discuss how we can use Graded Motor Imagery when "everything hurts in the shoulder". There will be given several patient demonstrations both live and on video. There will also be lots of clinical reasoning from different tests and diagnoses. In addition there will be given 2-4 patient cases during the day for reflection and discussion.

Shoulder course - Day 2

In day 2 of the shoulder course we will have a global focus on rehabilitation. Posterior instability is often missed in shoulder assessment - so we will have a closer look at this. Rehabilitation of both posterior and anterior instability will be demonstrated. We will also look at the stiff shoulder, included frozen shoulder and how we best can treat this with both exercise and mobilisation techniques. We will also look at relevant taping techniques and when we should refer for MRI and surgery. In addition there will be 2-4 patient demonstrations during the course where we will discuss treatment and rehabilitation options.
